About
AlmaLuna, LLC founder and owner, Jessica Dover, is an ATA Certified Translator (Spanish>English) state-certified court interpreter (Oregon, Washington), a Certified Medical Interpreter (NBCMI), and a Certified Health Care Interpreter (Oregon) who has been providing language services for 20 years. After graduating with a Bachelor of Music, Jessica's journey to becoming a professional interpreter and translator began in 2003 in Colorado when she returned from a home stay in Mérida, Yucatán, México to work at a medical clinic. Cut to 2012, after moving to Portland and working as a medical assistant and interpreter and then as an in-house interpreter/translator at a startup tech company, Jessica officially struck out on her own and registered AlmaLuna as an LLC. As a business owner and independent contractor, Jessica's client list includes governmental agencies, community and non-profit organizations, schools, farms, wineries, and corporations. From conference rooms to muddy fields to administrative offices to the bright lights of event stages, Jessica has interpreted in almost every venue imaginable, including for Telemundo's 2022 gubernatorial candidate debate. Her translation work ranges from published newspaper articles to personal statements for immigration cases. She is also the in-house Spanish Content Specialist with the telehealth company Bright.md. Jessica’s professionalism and expertise defines her with every job, and her background in music makes her uniquely suited for the focus and creativity interpreting and translation demand. Each interpreting project is unique, and yours is no exception. Be it a conference, a meeting, a community forum, or even a first date (all real-life examples!), your message warrants the skills and professionalism of a trained, Spanish<>English interpreter to make sure all goes smoothly. Spoken language interpretation is typically divided into Simultaneous, Consecutive, Sight, and Liaison modes (click here to learn more). Jessica at AlmaLuna, LLC specializes in each and every one of these, and is ready to discuss what mode or combination of modes will be just right for your needs. Additionally, she has a set of ten, wireless listening units available for rent to facilitate simultaneous mode. Referrals can be provided for events that may require more than ten units.

“How is subtitling different than translation?” you may ask. Subtitling often requires truncating a message to its core elements so that it fits on a screen or device, without losing meaning. Subtitling also involves precise time stamps and can require special software. Need a translation/transcription AND subtitling? Let’s do it.
